Mark Hillyer

Whilst travelling through the Lofoten Islands in Norway early in 2016, I became aware of the isolation of many of the houses and homes. Many existed in what could only be described as extreme isolation. Rather than instilling a feeling of peace or ‘being at one with nature’, the extreme silence made me feel a little uneasy. This small series is my attempt at capturing that disquiet in the quiet, the unease that absolute stillness provoked in me and the overall relationship between some of the dwellings and their remote environment.
