Fili Olsefski- Α Broken Pulsar

Fili Olsefski was born in Łódź, Poland in 1986. Resides in Athens, Greece. She holds an MA in Fine Arts, Painting Faculty.

Painters claim that light is everything. But this has turned into a cliche motto- we’d better forget about.

My friends are gone in every possible Ginsbergian way: they emigrate/fall into depression/fall off cliffs. I, myself held on from cliffs and from haunted people, thrown into mud and wire, in the edge of a western world with sky-high walls, mad seas and shut borders.

In my land, any visible sunlight has changed, got demonised, has been ripped off from us, ended up savaged by the mythical narrative created by our landlords and key holders.

In this series, I try to sum up what is left of these beams that would be visible to the naked eye and to recollect any rays easy to grasp by our bare mind; our sun is of that kind that has been poisoned, the kind that’s irreparably broken. In our case, any light serves as a survival manual, yet we are restricted to access it.
