Ramiro Gómez- Мой Родной Город (My Hometown)

My name is Ramiro Gomez and I live in Villa Carlos Paz, Argentina. I studied photography at Escuela de Artes Aplicadas Lino Spilimbergo in Cordoba, and now I am currently studying cinema and film making. Style and order are my philosophy in life as well as in photography, whenever I shoot with my camera I love seeing the colours, the lines, the shadows, I make them mine, they belong to me because I captured them, I appropriated them.

In this series the Argentine photographer Ramiro Gómez captures architectural spaces located in his native province: Córdoba, Argentina. Through the camera the photographer creates a new urban landscape. A minimalist landscape that we could only appreciate if we look up and isolate small portions of urban geometry. The artist raises the following question: Every day we move and travel through countless places, but do we realize that they exist? Probably not, because our mind is busy with more important things. Often, the partial vision of an image tells us nothing. We seek to understand the context; we need to know the whole so we can appreciate the beauty of a shot. In this series, the photographer tries to make us forget the main objective is the whole image, becoming an absolute protagonist the “partial details”. By showing only part of the building, it gives us a unique point of view, a new way of seeing everything around us.

The series is entitled "Мой Родной Город" an expression taken from the Russian language which the photographer studies in his free time, and which translates to English as "my hometown".
